| Grizzlies Prevail, 2-1, Over Mahoning Valley | The Vancouver Grizzlies did just enough to sneak past the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 2-1, at Canal Park. Vancouver pitcher Steve Kenemore, in particular, had a standout performance. Kenemore went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. His record improves to 4-5. Greg Minerd, credited with the save, is now 5 for 6 in save opportunities.
Sergio Herrera, the 31-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Herrera contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Vancouver up, 2-0.
"Both teams played hard," said Vancouver manager Aneury Rodriguez.
Vancouver, at 35-37, occupies 5th place in the Frontier League.
