| Cortéz Delivers Walk-Off Win for Dogs | The Dogs grabbed a win, 3-2, at New Northwest Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Washington pitcher Mike Laino. Laino went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Chicago reliever Mike LaRonde was the winner. His record is now 7-2. Randy Wagstaff took the loss. Chicago, at 40-41, holds down 5th place in the Heartland League.
Juan Cortéz was the walk-off hero for Chicago. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Dogs shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
Cortéz offered a curt "no comment" when asked to discuss the win after the game.
