Marauders Nip Generals, 6-5 | The inspired effort of Washington third baseman John Nemecek was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-5, to the Manchester Marauders. Nemecek was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Beau Berkowitz converted his 29th save in 33 tries. Manchester improves to 62-29 with the win. They lead their division by 9½ games.
Had Wes Dahm not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Dahm hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Marauders.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Dahm said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing." | | | | |
