| Samurai Fall Short, 3-2, at Memphis | Both teams had their chances, but the Memphis Blues eventually prevailed.
Memphis picked up a win at Gateway Field, bumping off the China Grove Samurai, 3-2. Pitcher Kevin Leibowitz was a major reason the Blues emerged victorious. Leibowitz got the win, improving to 13-5. He allowed 12 hits and walked 0 over 6.1 innings. Leibowitz allowed 2 runs. Earning his 12th save of the year was José Rivera.
The Blues got a big at-bat from right fielder KC Dalager. For the game, Dalager was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Memphis a 3-2 lead.
"Every loss stings," said China Grove manager Bobby Hillier. "This one is no exception."
