| Surf Dawgs Shut Out Scrappers, 2-0 | In a low-scoring clash between San Diego and Mahoning Valley, pitcher Luis Zúñiga was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned accolades in the 2-0 win. Ira Zmijewski was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 33 of 37 save opportunities. With the win, San Diego upped its record to 72-62.
The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the fifth inning, but Zúñiga was able to pitch out of a jam. With the bases loaded and Mahoning Valley trailing 2-0, Zúñiga retired Ronald Pergman, who flied out.
