Liberty Win Thriller, 4-3 | The Philadelphia Liberty picked up a win at Roughnecks Ballpark, taking down the Washington Generals, 4-3. Starting pitcher Dave Pepple was a big reason why. Reliever Joe Stepien picked up the win. His record improves to 3-4. Lazlo Stromain took the loss. The 5th-place Liberty are now 71-79, the Generals 96-54.
In the bottom of the ninth, Marcelo Bielsa had a chance to deal the knockout blow. And he did, punching a run-scoring walk to center off Washington pitcher Lazlo Stromain.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Pepple. | | | | |
