Herrera was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Al Knight was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed no runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Picking up the save was José Corona, his 1st.
Deangelo Vickers, who is a four-time Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner, came through for San Diego with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. The catcher went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 2 runs batted in.
